World Ethnic Groups

Editor’s Note:  Below is a list of the major ethnic groups found in the world according to the World Factbook 2008.  Many of these groups number in the many millions and compose a significant portion of the population.  Palestinians are not listed as a distinct ethnic group but are found only as “Palestinian Arabs” in the listing for the Gaza Strip.  Yet much of the world believes that this small group of poorly defined Arabs deserves its own sovereign state while the many other distinct and larger groups do not.
